Selling a Car in Delta

Delta is really three communities with little in common: Ladner, Tsawwassen and North Delta. A Ladner Village pickup and a North Delta pickup are half an hour apart and feel like different cities. We cover all three at no charge.

A lot of Delta is farmland and low-lying reclaimed delta, which means vehicles parked on agricultural properties, sometimes for a very long time, and sometimes on ground that gets soft in winter. Those are workable jobs, but they need the right equipment.

Farm and acreage vehicles

Trucks and equipment parked on agricultural land for years are a regular Delta pickup. Soft ground and a long winch pull are normal here — just tell us what we are coming to.

Tsawwassen and the ferry corridor

Tsawwassen is the far southwest corner of our area and we still collect free of charge. Booking ahead helps us schedule around ferry traffic on Highway 17.

Salt air near the water

Vehicles kept near the water in Ladner and Tsawwassen show corrosion sooner. We price that in honestly rather than discovering it on the day.

Three steps

Quote, accept, paid.

No listing to write, no test drives with strangers, no waiting on a cheque to clear.

STEP 01

Tell us what you have

Year, make, model, rough mileage, and an honest word on condition. Photos help for anything with damage, rust, or awkward access — a steep driveway or an underground parkade is worth mentioning now rather than on the day.

STEP 02

Get a real number

One figure, no obligation, and it is the figure you get paid. We price rust, high mileage and non-runners at the quoting stage rather than discovering them on your driveway and renegotiating.

STEP 03

We collect, you get cash

We come to Delta, look the vehicle over, and hand you the cash before it goes on the truck. You sign the ICBC Transfer/Tax Form, keep your plates, and that is the whole process.

What we buy

Every rung of the ladder.

Condition changes the number, never whether we are interested in a vehicle in Delta. Do not spend money on repairs to improve an offer — you will rarely get it back.

Clean, well-kept car in excellent condition

ExcellentTop value

Low mileage, clean body, full service history. Often garaged second cars that were barely driven.

Car in good working condition with normal wear

Good

Drives well, normal wear for its age. The everyday commuter that has simply been replaced.

Car needing mechanical repair work

Fair

Runs, but needs work. Failed inspections, tired brakes, a slipping transmission, warning lights on.

Car with collision damage and body panel dents

Poor

Body damage, heavy corrosion, or a repair bill well past what the car is worth to fix.

Non-running car with the hood up being loaded for towing

Not runningStill buying

Seized brakes, dead battery, flat-spotted tires, parked since 2015. We bring the winch and the deck truck.

Uninsured vehicle being collected by a flat deck tow truck

Uninsured & off the road

Lapsed insurance does not stop a sale. It is exactly why we come to you rather than asking you to drive it over.

The paperwork, in plain words.

  • APV9T

The ICBC Transfer/Tax Form. You sign it at collection, alongside your registration and matching photo ID.

  • PLATES

In BC your plates stay with you, never with the car. Take them off before we load it.

  • REFUND

Bring the plates and your signed copy to any Autoplan broker to cancel insurance and claim what you are owed.

  • LIEN

Money still owed against the vehicle has to be cleared first — ownership cannot transfer cleanly until it is.

  • NO TEST

AirCare ended in 2014. There is no inspection certificate to get before a private sale.

Local questions

Selling a car in Delta

Do you come out to Tsawwassen, or only North Delta?

All three parts of Delta — Ladner, Tsawwassen and North Delta — at no charge. They are far enough apart that people reasonably assume the far corners cost extra, and they do not. Tsawwassen is close to the southwest edge of our service area and pickup there is still free. The one practical suggestion is to book with a little notice so we can schedule around ferry traffic on Highway 17, which can make a narrow pickup window hard to hold.

There's an old truck sitting in a field on my Delta property. Will you take it?

Yes, and it is a regular job for us here. Vehicles parked on agricultural land for years are usually partly sunk into soft ground, with seized brakes, perished tires and often no battery. What we need from you is an honest description of the access: how far from a hard surface it sits, whether a truck can get within winch range, and how soft the ground is at this time of year. Winter changes that answer significantly on reclaimed delta land.

My car has corroded badly from being near the water in Ladner. Does that kill the value?

It reduces it, but it rarely eliminates it, and we would rather tell you that plainly than pretend otherwise. Vehicles kept near the water in Ladner and Tsawwassen corrode faster, particularly brake lines, exhaust systems and rocker panels. We assess it when we quote so the figure we give you is the figure you are paid. A buyer who quotes high over the phone and then finds rust on your driveway to justify a lower number is doing something we will not do.

Can I get a quote without knowing the exact mileage?

Yes, a reasonable estimate is enough to start. Tell us roughly where the odometer sits and be clear that it is an estimate — we will quote on that basis and confirm at collection. What matters far more than the last few thousand kilometres is the bigger picture: does it run, does it drive, what is the body like, and is there anything major wrong. If the actual mileage turns out to be wildly different from the estimate, the offer may change, which is why an honest estimate serves you better than an optimistic one.
