Selling a Car in Port Coquitlam

Port Coquitlam is compact and largely flat compared with its Tri-Cities neighbours, which makes for straightforward pickups. It is also a working city with a substantial industrial area along the Mary Hill Bypass, and we see a steady flow of trade vehicles, vans and older pickups alongside ordinary family cars.

Because PoCo sits between Coquitlam, Port Moody and Pitt Meadows, we are often nearby already, which tends to mean tighter pickup windows than the outer edges of our service area.

Trade and commercial vehicles

Cargo vans, service trucks and older work vehicles from the Mary Hill industrial area are routine. Racking and shelving can stay in.

Flat, accessible streets

Most of PoCo is easy access, which usually makes for quick pickups — often the same day if we are already in the Tri-Cities.

Business vehicle paperwork

If the vehicle is registered to a company rather than an individual, the person signing needs authority to sell on the company's behalf. Sort that before we arrive.

Three steps

Quote, accept, paid.

No listing to write, no test drives with strangers, no waiting on a cheque to clear.

STEP 01

Tell us what you have

Year, make, model, rough mileage, and an honest word on condition. Photos help for anything with damage, rust, or awkward access — a steep driveway or an underground parkade is worth mentioning now rather than on the day.

STEP 02

Get a real number

One figure, no obligation, and it is the figure you get paid. We price rust, high mileage and non-runners at the quoting stage rather than discovering them on your driveway and renegotiating.

STEP 03

We collect, you get cash

We come to Port Coquitlam, look the vehicle over, and hand you the cash before it goes on the truck. You sign the ICBC Transfer/Tax Form, keep your plates, and that is the whole process.

What we buy

Every rung of the ladder.

Condition changes the number, never whether we are interested in a vehicle in Port Coquitlam. Do not spend money on repairs to improve an offer — you will rarely get it back.

Clean, well-kept car in excellent condition

ExcellentTop value

Low mileage, clean body, full service history. Often garaged second cars that were barely driven.

Car in good working condition with normal wear

Good

Drives well, normal wear for its age. The everyday commuter that has simply been replaced.

Car needing mechanical repair work

Fair

Runs, but needs work. Failed inspections, tired brakes, a slipping transmission, warning lights on.

Car with collision damage and body panel dents

Poor

Body damage, heavy corrosion, or a repair bill well past what the car is worth to fix.

Non-running car with the hood up being loaded for towing

Not runningStill buying

Seized brakes, dead battery, flat-spotted tires, parked since 2015. We bring the winch and the deck truck.

Uninsured vehicle being collected by a flat deck tow truck

Uninsured & off the road

Lapsed insurance does not stop a sale. It is exactly why we come to you rather than asking you to drive it over.

The paperwork, in plain words.

  • APV9T

The ICBC Transfer/Tax Form. You sign it at collection, alongside your registration and matching photo ID.

  • PLATES

In BC your plates stay with you, never with the car. Take them off before we load it.

  • REFUND

Bring the plates and your signed copy to any Autoplan broker to cancel insurance and claim what you are owed.

  • LIEN

Money still owed against the vehicle has to be cleared first — ownership cannot transfer cleanly until it is.

  • NO TEST

AirCare ended in 2014. There is no inspection certificate to get before a private sale.

Local questions

Selling a car in Port Coquitlam

The van is registered to my business, not to me. Can I still sell it?

Yes, provided the paperwork lines up. When a vehicle is registered to a company rather than an individual, the person signing the transfer needs authority to sell on the company's behalf, and we will want to see the registration showing the company as owner alongside the signer's photo ID. If you are the sole proprietor or director this is straightforward. If someone else in the business will be present at collection, make sure they are the right someone before we come out.

Do I need to strip the shelving out of my work van first?

No. Racking, shelving, ladder racks and partition bulkheads can stay in — we buy plenty of trade vehicles from the Mary Hill industrial area with all of it still fitted, and pulling it out is work you do not need to do. Do take out tools, stock and anything else you want to keep, because once the van is collected it goes. If the racking is genuinely valuable and you want to reuse it, remove it before we quote so the offer reflects the van as we will receive it.

How quickly can you collect in Port Coquitlam?

Often faster than at the edges of our service area. PoCo sits between Coquitlam, Port Moody and Pitt Meadows, all of which we cover, so there is a reasonable chance we already have a truck in the Tri-Cities on any given day. Same-day is frequently possible. It is never a guarantee — it depends on what is already booked — so tell us when you request the quote if the timing is genuinely urgent and we will give you a straight answer.

Will you buy a vehicle that has a lien on it?

Not until the lien is cleared. If there is still money owed against the vehicle, the lender has a registered interest in it and ownership cannot transfer cleanly to us while that stands. You will need to pay out the loan and have the lien released first. It is worth checking before you request a quote, because people are sometimes surprised to find an old financing registration still sitting against a vehicle they paid off years ago.
